Proposal submissions meeting the criteria of the NSA program are peer reviewed and ranked according to their merit and how well they advance the goals of the program. The reviewing and ranking are performed not only by a committee of experts within the NSA, but also by committees established by the American Mathematical Society. NSA determines which submissions receive support together with the amount of support to be provided and notifies those who have submitted proposals of the final decision regarding their submission.

Subsequent to this notification, funds will be provided in a timely manner, contingent upon appropriation and authorization by Congress, to the NSA Grants office, for processing of a Grant Award.
