The tone control of the speakers or headphones can be set separately. This ensures that you hear clear dialogue and vocals, and all sound effects at comfortable levels.
There is no need to adjust the volume level as you listen; everything from whispers to big explosions will be heard clearly and comfortably at the same volume setting. It also tones down loud TV commercials, and is ideal for low-volume, late-night listening, when you do not want to disturb others,. Max Volume Adjustment: Use this feature to set the receiver's maximum volume level. This feature is useful to avoid turning the volume too loud by mistake.
Initial Volume Setting: Use this feature to set the volume level when the power is turned on. Volume Trim: Use this feature to adjust the volume level of each input. This is useful to balance the level of each input to avoid sudden changes in volume when switching between input sources. The function of the extra speaker terminals is set using the Power Amp Assign menu. The binding posts can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs.
The terminals are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs and the collar surrounding the posts prevents the use of spade connectors. Impedance Selection: You can select 8 ohms or 6 ohms in the menu depending on your speaker application. The 6-ohm setting also allows you to connect 4-ohm speakers to the receiver's Front Speaker terminals. The optical digital output can be used for recording or Zone 4. Phono Input: The Yamaha AV receiver is fitted with a Phono input MM , so you can connect your turntable and listen to your vinyl records with high-quality sound.
Connecting a set of headphones automatically mutes the receiver's speaker outputs. Sound effects applied during playback can also be heard through the headphones. HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide you with the highest-quality home theater experience. The two HDMI outputs are parallel so the same video signal is output through both and can be used simultaneously. Note : When you output a video signal from both HDMI outputs simultaneously, the receiver outputs the video signal at the highest resolution that both TVs connected to this unit can support.
Supporting both SD standard definition and HD high definition sources, this processor employs powerful noise reduction functions that even improve low-quality sources.
The result transforms standard-definition sources to HD quality and makes HD look even more detailed. Moreover, the device also provides real-time clean up of highly compressed video, reducing compression artifacts of block and mosquito noise from lower-quality sources. This means a much better picture with HDTVs capable of p, i or p resolution. The receiver also features extremely precise motion adaptive and edge adaptive deinterlacing and multi-cadence detection including pull-down.
Note: You can also convert a composite video signal to a component video and vice-versa. Edge Adaptive Deinterlacing: In ordinary deinterlacing, pixels in areas of movement are interpolated by upper and lower ranges. This causes jaggies in diagonal lines. Edge adaptive deinterlacing detects the direction of the line and interpolates the pixels optimally.
Note that special eyewear may be required for viewing 3D content. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television. The HDMI input can be changed using the remote control. Color: The AV receiver supports x. Color, offering a wider color range than the current broadcast standard. For the x. Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible camera-editing-format-player-display. The number of colors that could be expressed by 1 pixel was 24 bits 16,, colors with a standard HDMI jack.
Since the gradation of the depth of a color can be expressed more finely with more bits, continuous color changes can be more smoothly expressed. For the Deep Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible camera-editing-format-player-display.
Note: x. Lipsync: This function adjusts the delay between audio and video output. You can do this manually or have the receiver set the Lipsync function automatically. These video adjustments can be saved as presets up to 6. These inputs and output have a frequency response of 5 Hz to 60 MHz and will pass High Definition video sources up to p.

Unfortunately, a USB source and Ethernet source cannot be played back in different Zones at the same time.

Hi people, I'm new to this forum. Wasn't sure whether it was better to start a new thread or post in the owners forum. Well I'm looking to upgrade my Yamaha rx-v to either the rx-a or rx-a I have scoured the forums not just here in regards to a direct comparison between the two receivers beyond just the specs. On paper there isn't much between them, but is it correct that performance-wise there is a distinct diffrence? I wanted to know how much of a difference there is in sonic performance primarily.
I understand that uses better DACs dsd, and the pcm, iirc , but is the only marginally better or a huge step up? Also, both receivers utilize ypao with RSC, but the also has angle measurement, how useful is this? I guess its worth mentioning that at present I am running 7. I hope to upgrade my speakers in future, perhaps paradigm millenia one, or ma apex. Oh and my room is a a through lounge, with the setup in one half of the room.
Are the adjustable parameters on the for video upscaling very useful? Thanks in advance for any advise, info, suggestions and opinions. Regarding sonic performance I really doubt there will be any audible difference ,but some one please correct me if I'm wrong.
It is debatable as to whether human hearing can actually perceive the difference, but if SACD is of importance and if you are a purest then this would be an important difference. I expect the difference to be marginal. You have to keep in mind they are both retired models so their features will be slightly outdated eg no 4K which can become important if you want to hold on to it for a number of years.
Cliff Distinguished Member. I suppose if you have taken the trouble to have a 1 bit source it is a retrograde step to convert it back to pcm. There are a few extra bells and whistles with If you look at the weight of the it is 2.
